Gencs Valters Law Firm expands professional activity: offices in Estonia and Lithuania become members of ECTA
Our law firm is a member of ECTA since May 1st, 2004. We were the first ones from Latvia to become a member of the European Communities Trade Mark Association. In comparison ECTA now has more than 1.400 members, coming from all the Member States of the European Union with associate members from all over the world.
ECTA, the European Communities Trade Mark Association, was formed in 1980. ECTA brings together persons practicing professionally in the Member States of the European Community in the field of trademarks, designs and related IP matters. These professionals are lawyers, trade mark advisors, trade mark attorneys, in-house counsel and others who can be considered specialist practitioners in these areas.
The task of ECTA is to promote the knowledge and professionalism of members and owners alike in the fields of trademarks, designs and related rights, within the European Union. ECTA brings together persons and companies practicing or engaged in the Member States of the European Union in the fields of trademarks, designs and related IP rights. This includes attorneys, lawyers practicing in industry and private practice, advisors, agents, etc.
As a result of its work and actions, ECTA has achieved the status of a recognized expert on all issues related to the protection and use of trademarks, designs, domain names, indications of origin, and other business indicators throughout the European Union, especially by the EU legal bodies, OHIM (now renamed EUIPO), courts, boards and agencies.
Our law offices in Estonia and Lithuania recently became members of ECTA as well thus expanding our professional activity in fields of trademarks, designs and related IP matters.
